Connecting Massage and Travel
Many people plan their whole year around travel - booking time off of work, collecting rewards miles, booking flights, tours and cruises, taking the RV into the shop for a pre-trip inspection, hauling the boat, and the list goes on.
So much of our disposable income gets dedicated to life experiences that involve going on new adventures or back to favourite destinations.
Although most people associate massage with either indulgence or rehabilitation, I feel that an individualized travel-oriented massage plan is a sound investment in maximizing your travel experience.
There are 4 components that I feel will optimize your body for positive travel experiences:
1. Build a picture of you & your travels:
- Current body condition,
- Relevant past travel in relation to your body,
- Upcoming travel plans, and (most importantly)
- Your goals.
2. Provide individualized pre-travel massage to optimize for your:
- Muscles & joints,
- Known weaknesses and strengths,
- Neurological and circulatory systems, and
- Your mobility objectives.
3. Provide tailored travel insights for your body and your travel itinerary including:
- Considerations for transiting to/from your destination,
- Insight reports on location terrain, weather, and health resources, and
- Activity & rest opportunities consistent with your goals.
4. Re-engage post-trip to address:
- New tensions, injuries, or over-used structures,
- Ongoing/pre-existing issues that may have been aggravated while away, and
- Gather your insights on the trip that may be relevant in planning your next adventure.
I feel strongly that a proactive, intentional, and responsive massage program contributes to a better quality of experience - both in your travels and in your everyday life.
